Our Daily Guide

Terms of Service

Last updated: August 24, 2026

Agreement

Reading, comparing, listening and the daily verse are open to anyone, with no account and nothing to agree to. These terms apply once you make an account or post a reflection. We offer the site as a calm, respectful space for scripture and reflection.

Who may use it

You must be at least 13 to make an account or post a reflection. Reading, listening and the daily verse ask for no account and no age — a child can read scripture here freely, and we would be glad if they did. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 13, we will close it and remove what it posted. If you are under 18, please read these terms with a parent or guardian.

Your content

What you write stays yours. By posting it you give us permission to show it on the site — in the thread for that passage, beside your name — and nothing beyond that. We do not claim ownership of it, and we do not use it to train models.

You are responsible for what you post. Please keep reflections kind, respectful, and free of hateful or unlawful content, and post only what is yours to post — someone else’s writing, or a video you do not have the right to share, is not.

You can edit or delete your own reflections at any time. A video attached to one is released ninety days after it was posted: the file goes and the words stay, which keeps an old thread readable without the site holding video forever. Save your own copy of anything you would want back.

Moderation

We may hide a reflection that breaks the spirit of this place, or hide only its video where the words are fine and the video is not. Hiding is reversible and we will tell you by email when it happens. Deleting is not reversible, and takes any attached video with it. An account used for abuse, spam or anything unlawful can be closed.

Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your password safe. Sign-in codes we email you are single use and expire; treat them like a password. Two-factor sign-in is available and we would encourage it. Let us know if you believe your account has been compromised, and ask us any time you want it deleted.

Scripture & translations

Bible text is here for personal reading and reflection. Most of the translations are public domain and free to use as you wish. The Amplified Bible, the New King James Version and the New Living Translation are shown under licence from their publishers, each with its copyright line beneath the passage, and remain subject to that publisher’s own terms — reading and quoting in the ordinary way is fine; republishing them from here is not. We are not affiliated with any Bible publisher.

Commentaries

Matthew Henry, Jamieson-Fausset-Brown, Wesley, Adam Clarke, Gill and Spurgeon are public domain. The Gospel Coalition’s commentary is reproduced by their permission for non-commercial use, and Bob Utley’s Free Bible Commentary by Bible Lessons International’s, free of charge and with credit. Those two permissions were given to this site on those terms, so please read them here rather than copying them out of here for commercial use.

The assistant & ✦ Reflect

Both are written by a language model. It quotes scripture from this site’s own text rather than from memory, but everything around the quotation is generated, and it can be wrong or miss the nuance of a tradition. Treat it as a companion for your own thinking — not as doctrinal, pastoral, legal, medical or financial advice, and not as a substitute for your own church. The same goes for the reflection the site posts each day.

Email & notifications

The daily verse arrives only if you ask for it and confirm the address, and every one of those emails can unsubscribe you in a click. Notifications go only to a browser you switched them on in. Account email — a sign-in code, a password reset, a note that a reflection was hidden — is part of having an account and is not marketing.

Fair use of the site

Read as much as you like — that is what it is for. Please don’t scrape it in bulk, work around the rate limits, or try to reach other people’s accounts or the parts of the site that are not yours. The bundled translations come from public sources that are happy to give you the whole text directly, which is the kinder way to get it.

Availability

We aim to keep Our Daily Guide available and gentle to use, but we provide it “as is” without warranties. Features may change or pause from time to time — some days the film or the reflection may simply not be there — and a translation served from someone else’s library can be unavailable for reasons that are not ours.

Liability

The site is free, and it is offered in the spirit of a gift rather than a product. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of it — including anything you lose by relying on the assistant, ✦ Reflect, or the reflection posted each day, none of which are a substitute for scripture itself or for your own church. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for any claim is limited to one hundred US dollars; there is no subscription to refund.

Nothing here limits liability that the law does not permit us to limit, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute arising from them or from the site will be brought in the state or federal courts of Florida. If you are a consumer elsewhere and your own country’s law gives you the protection of your local courts, nothing here takes that away. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of them still stand.

Changes & contact

If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top will change with them. Questions about any of this, or about the privacy policy, are welcome — get in touch and we will be glad to answer.
